Today our school team got a chance to flex their chess muscles in the Dublin League. We travelled to St. Patrick’s School in Drumcondra where the other two teams in our group laid in wait. Our first opponents were St. Pat’s and after the 4th match was over the score read 3 games to 1 to St. Pat’s.
Cian, Clive, Aaron and Andre gathered themselves well to prepare for the second opponents of the day, Castleknock Educate Together. This time the results went Francis Street’s way with a four games to nil win.
Sadly this great result was not enough to get us out of our group. The team had represented the school well and had done themselves proud so after a few slices of Pizza Hut pizza we said goodbye to our excellent hosts St. Pat’s and boarded the bus for Francis St.
A great chess-packed day was had by all and already we are looking forward to the Francis St Chess Team 2012.
